All-new Sky Original drama Munich Games is coming to Sky Atlantic and NOW in September


Next Drama Sky Original Munich gameswill arrive on Sky Atlantic and NOW in September.

The fast-paced, high-stakes political thriller, starring Seyneb Saleh, Yousef Sweid, Sebastian Rudolph and Dov Glickman, comes from the author of the global TV hit Fauda and tells the story of two agents – one Israeli, one German – who must work together to stop a terrorist attack 50 years after the Munich massacre.

It’s the year 2022 and a friendly football match between an Israeli team and a German team is planned as a sign of peace and respect for the victims of the 1972 terrorist attack. Police and secret services everywhere are on alert maximum to ensure the safety of the event.

However, when Oren Simon, a Mossad agent stationed in Berlin, intercepts a message on a dark web forum, a few days before the match, he joins forces with Maria Köhler, a German policewoman from the criminal police (LKA), of Lebanese origin to ensure that history does not repeat itself.

Dealing with themes of geopolitics, manipulation of information and the growing threat of extremism across the globe, the six-part Sky Deutschland series brings cinematic scale to the small screen as part of the growing roster of Sky of gripping and groundbreaking international dramas.

The Munich Games feature a brilliant multinational creative team in front of and behind the camera and were filmed in German, Hebrew, Arabic and English. It is created by Michal Aviram (Fauda), directed by Philipp Kadelbach (We, the children of Bahnhof Zoo, Scent) and written by Aviram and Martin Behnke (Berlin’s Alexanderplatz). It is a co-production between Amusement Park Film, CBS Studios and Sky Studios.

The series is produced by Amelie von Kienlin. Daniel Brühl and Malte Grunert of Amusement Park Film and Meghan Lyvers of CBS Studios serve as executive producers; as well as Michal Aviram, Philipp Kadelbach, alongside Frank Jastfelder and Julia Jaensch on behalf of Sky Studios. Martin Behnke is co-executive producer.

The production of the Munich Games is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF), the German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF) and the Czech Film Fund.

The series will be available in all Sky markets including the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Paramount Global Content Distribution owns the international distribution rights for the series outside of Sky markets.

Additionally, to mark the 50th anniversary of the tragic events that inspired the series, Sky will also be showing a 90-minute documentary, 1972 – Munich’s Black September, detailing the devastating impact of what happened at the 1972 Olympics. Coming to Sky Documentaries on 5e September.
