Announcement of selection procedures for the 2023 World Junior Championship and beyond

BRISTOL, RI (November 21, 2022) – US Sailing is delighted to announce the selection procedures for the 2023 Youth Sailing World Championship. Additionally, the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games selection criteria and qualification plans are now live, and an update to the 2023 Pan American Games selection has been released.

NEW: SELECTION PROCEDURES FOR THE 2023 WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

The United States qualifying events for the 2023 Youth Sailing World Championships will be run with the following equipment:

      • Boy’s single-seater sailing dinghy – ILCA 6
      • Single-seater girl dinghy – ILCA 6
      • Mixed or boy tandem dinghy – i420
      • Annex for two people for girls – i420
      • Boys Single Scull – 29er
      • Girls’ single scull – 29er
      • Mixed Multihull – Nacra15
      • Windsurfing for boys – iQFOiL Youth
      • Windsurfing for girls – iQFOiL Youth
      • Kites for boys – Formula Kite
      • Kites for girls – Formula Kite

US Sailing’s ISC will select one eligible potential athlete from each of the single-handed classes and a team of two eligible potential athletes from each of the double-handed classes to represent their country at the 52nd World Youth Sailing Championship to be held in December. 2023 (exact dates of the event and location to be determined). The top eligible finalist in their class at the following event will earn a selection:

      • US Youth Championships | June 26-30, 2023 | Sailing US/RWU, Bristol, RI

If this regatta is a “non-event” as defined in the Notice of Race for that event, canceled or postponed, the ISC will issue a revised selection procedure as soon as possible.

2023 World Junior Championship Selection Procedures

NEW: 2023 ANOC WORLD BEACH GAMES SELECTION PROCEDURES

The ANOC World Beach Games is a global multi-sport event created by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and first held in Qatar in 2019. The second edition of the ANOC World Beach Games will take place place in Bali, Indonesia August 5-12, 2023 and will feature WingFoil Racing as the sailing event.

UPDATE: 2023 PAN AMERICAN GAMES

Selection procedures for the 2023 Pan American Games have been slightly revised, with changes to the location of the first Formuthe Kite qualification event, as well as a change of date for the Sunfish Trials event. More details can be found in the selection document.
