Aphuyemi FC remained unbeatable in the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal Championship 2022, winning all five matches in the tournament to lift the trophy.

Aphuyemi FC Zunheboto defeated Proper V FC Mon by 10-6 in the final game to win the 2nd Nagaland State Futsal Championship played here in Reiphinyü Badze Vürie, Kohima.

Earlier at the closing ceremony as a special guest, Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) Secretary General Abu Metha said the Nagas need to develop their own style of play and improve it in order to be able to compete with players from other parts of the world.

Highlighting the versatility of football, he said the game could be designed to match the physical and mental abilities of players around the world based on their unique characteristics.

He urged football experts in the state to come together and come up with a practical style suitable for Naga players.

He assured the full support of the government and the Nagaland Olympic Association to develop football in the state with the help and support of concerned associations like the Nagaland Football Association.

Aphuyemi FC received Rs. 1 lakh with citations while runners-up Proper V FC secured Rs 50,000.

The losing semi-finalists were Vanguard FC Tseminyu and Nimok Power FC Phek.

Aphuyemi FC will now represent Nagaland in the next National Futsal Championship to be held in November.

The three-day championship was organized by the Nagaland Football Association and hosted by the Kohima District Football Association.
