Centralia College baseball had no trouble sending Olympic College into a double home sweep, 8-3, 9-1, Friday at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

In Game 1, the Trailblazers turned 13 hits into eight runs, highlighted by a five-run seventh inning that pushed them past the Rangers.

Casen Taggert led the way at home plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Matthew Obst and Jaden Fulsher each added two hits.

Centralia High School alum Derek Beairsto struck out three and scattered seven hits over six innings.

In Game 2, the Tigers beat Ranger 10-4, with Ryan Morrison 2-for-3 at the plate as nine Blazers totaled hits. Jeremy Vierra, Taggert, Morrison, James Nelson, Aaron Peters and Kadin Miller all made runs.

Obst put up an impressive performance on the mound, pitching four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Ayden Ruminski and Cole Tague also struck out three batters.

“As a team, we’re starting to come together,” Blazers coach Ben Harley said. “We play real freshmen in five, sometimes six, positions, and have two real freshmen in our starting rotation. As a program, we are improving every day. We’re excited to see what our team will look like come playoff time. »

Centralia College improves to 5-7 overall and has won five of its last six games. The Blazers then travel to Shoreline on March 19 for a doubleheader starting at noon.
