Devils Darlin’s Cruise with Nikita Begins at SDC
Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Nikita Ducarroz will travel to her hometown and be honored by the City of Sonoma at an event in front of City Hall at 1 Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, January 15 at 2 p.m. Sonoma Mayor Jack Ding and city council members will help celebrate Ducarroz’s Olympic accomplishments. The public is invited to attend.
Ducarroz, who grew up in Glen Ellen, represented her father’s native Switzerland when she won the bronze medal in women’s BMX freestyle cycling at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Having also won a silver medal at the world UCI in France and a gold medal at the 2021 European BMX Championships in Moscow, she catapulted herself to world No. 1 in her sport.
The recognition of the city is one of many events celebrating Ducarroz on January 15. The festivities begin with a Devils Darlin car cruise that begins at 1:15 p.m. in Eldridge, passes through Glen Ellen and the Springs, and ends at Sonoma Plaza’s “Horseshoe.” in front of City Hall at 2 p.m. The public is invited to come at any point along the route to cheer on the local Olympian as she passes.
