At its meeting on November 17, the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) elected three new members to its Athletes Committee, approved the composition of the delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics and decided on the criteria for immunity.
According to the organization’s website, the Hungarian side can participate in the Beijing Olympics if they have three vaccines. Dr András Tállay, the team’s chief medical officer and chairman of the MOB medical committee, can waive this requirement with good reason.
It was already required for the Summer Olympics that only vaccinated Olympians be allowed to travel. There are some who missed it because of it. At the time, the MOB turned to the government in mid-January to prioritize athletes who had a chance of qualifying for the next summer or winter Olympics to get vaccinated. Soon after, the government led by Orbán granted this allowance to 868 athletes.
