LEWISTON – Museum LA plans to host Mike Rancourt of Rancourt & Co this month, who will discuss the creation of the shoes worn by Team USA at the Olympics.

The conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the museum at 35, rue Canal.

Rancourt & Co crafted the boots for three US Olympic teams, most recently the Opening and Closing Ceremony boots for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Working with global brand Ralph Lauren from concept to creation, Rancourt & Co. continues the long tradition of fine shoemaking in the region, according to a press release from the museum.

A discussion of the process and production will be followed by an open Q&A session. An in-person entrant will be chosen to have a pair of custom-made Team USA boots by Rancourt & Co., not available at retail.

Registration to attend in person is recommended and is required for the live stream.

The evening is the first of the Made In Maine series offered by Museum LA. Made in Maine will highlight businesses with local, regional, national and global impact that continue a long tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and industry in the region.
