Olympic Casino, Tete-a-Tete Casino and Baltic Bet fined €25,000

Lithuania’s gambling regulator has continued to impose financial penalties on operators found guilty of violating the nationwide ban on gambling promotions imposed last year, adding three more to the list of sanctioned companies .

Encouraging play is prohibited

Sanctions issued by the Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority to Olympic Casino Group Baltija, Tete-a-Tete Casino and UAB Baltic Bet followed in the footsteps of sanctions recently imposed on Unigames, Betsson, Amber Gaming and Top Sport.

Similar to Betsson and Top Sport, the newly fined operators will have to pay €25,000 ($27,000) each for their violations of Article 10(19) of the national gambling regulations related to the encouraging participation in gambling. Unigames and Amber Gaming were fined €12,662 ($13,625) and €6,789 ($7,205), respectively.

Olympic Casino has been sanctioned for featuring on the parent company’s Olybet.lt website a range of promotional slogans that encourage consumers to participate in its online casino games. All advertisements in breach of the regulations must be removed until June 27, as the operator has received a stern warning that in the event of further similar breaches, its license could be suspended. Olympic Casino Group Baltija’s license will be renewed later this year.

The same June 27 deadline was also given to Tete-a-Tete Casino, which was also found to have breached the gambling promotion ban, posting promotional slogans on its CBet website. .lt which urges Lithuanian players to bet in violation of the rules. Tete-a-Tete Casino is also seeing its license expire this year.

The third sanctioned operator, Baltic Bet, was found to have breached regulations relating to the promotion of gambling on its site Optibet.lt and ordered to remove slogans encouraging people to bet or face suspension of license.

Sanctions can be appealed

The Gaming Supervisory Authority noted that the three sanctioned operators have the ability to appeal the sanctions. All three have been fined for various violations of gaming regulations in the past.

Olympic Casino was fined a similar €25,000 ($27,000) in March for promoting a poker tournament on its website, while Baltic Bet and Tete-a-Tete Casino were fined the last year, in October and March, for organizing games of chance outside of gambling regulations and for unreasonable online gambling limits, €12,450 ($13,396) and €15,000 ($16,140 ), respectively.
