INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2022 NCAA Tournament draw was revealed tonight and the University of Tennessee Beach Volleyball team at Martin has been told they will face USC in the first round on Wednesday, May 4. The game will take place at noon at the Gulf Beach Place facility in Gulf. Shores, Ala.

The 2022 NCAA Tournament field has expanded to 16 teams this season, with the Skyhawks being the first-ever Ohio Valley Conference representative to participate in the event. The first round of the championships will take place on May 4 while the eight qualifying teams will face off in a double elimination format, with final rounds starting on May 6 and continuing until May 8. Earlier in the day, UT Martin rode a perfect 3-0 run in the OVC Championship, beating Morehead State by a 3-2 margin. Previously, the Skyhawks turned away Morehead State (3-2) in the first round on Thursday and Chattanooga (3-2) in the second round on Friday. The duet n°4 of Kayla Carrell/Addison Conley were named the Most Valuable Pair in the OVC Championship while UT Martin also landed Kambree Lucas/Haeleigh Paulino to the OVC All-Tournament Team after winning a third-set tiebreaker to clinch the title.

UT Martin enters the playoffs with an overall record of 17-8 — seven wins shy of its previous season high for the program that began in 2017. Nine different Skyhawks combined for 11 All-OVC accolades this spring, including including OVC Freshman of the Year Dylan Mott.

The four-time national champion USC is currently 32-1 this season and is coming off a Pac-12 championship on Friday, beating UCLA in the Finals. The Trojans are currently ranked No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s poll and boast AVCA All-Americans Tina Graudina, Hailey Harward, Megan Kraft and Sammy Slater. Graudina is only the fourth player in NCAA history to be named a first-team All-American four times and was also the first collegiate player to qualify for the Olympics, representing Latvia at the Olympics. from Tokyo last summer.
