Speakers scheduled for back-to-school celebrations – The Source

Several distinguished speakers, faculty members and student leaders will take part in the Launch Recognition Ceremonies for Class of 2022 Graduates and their families and guests May 18-20 at Washington University in St. Louis.

Astronaut Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to travel in space, will deliver the keynote address at the college-wide launch, which begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 20 at the Francis Olympic Field.

Wednesday May 18

Andrew Bynomteacher in Arts & Sciences, for the university college ceremony in Graham Chapel7:30 p.m. Shantay Bolton, Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration, is the special guest speaker. The student lecturer is African bakercandidate for a master’s degree in teaching and learning.

Thursday May 19

Erin McGlothlinAssociate Dean of Undergraduate Affairs for Arts and Sciences, and Feng Sheng HuDean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, will speak for the College of Arts & Sciences undergraduate ceremony, at 8:30 a.m. on Francis Olympic Field. The student lecturer is Helen Webley-Browncandidate for the baccalaureate in political science.

Arnold Donald, President, CEO and Chief Climate Officer of Carnival Corp.for the McKelvey School of Engineering1 p.m. to field house. Student lecturers are Michael Casey and Kathleen Lundtwo of the school’s undergraduate valedictorians.

Eva AagaardSenior Associate Dean for Education and Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Professor of Medical Education in the School of Medicine, and Amy McQueenprofessor of medicine and director of the master’s program in applied research in health behavior, for the Office of Health Information and Data Science and Applied research on health behaviors to Medicine School ceremony, 2 p.m. to Moore Auditorium. The student lecturer is Savannah Jefferies-HenriquesMaster’s candidate in applied health behavior research.

Jason Wangchairman and CEO of Xi’An Famous Foods, for the Olin Business School undergraduate ceremony. 4:30 p.m. to field house. The student lecturer is Alec Justin GordonBachelor of Business Administration candidate.

Nader Tehranfounder of NADAA and dean of the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union, for the Sam Fox School ceremony, at 6:30 p.m. Francis Olympic Field,. The alumni speaker is Ben Durham, BA ’04; student lecturers are Emilie Paz Ceacandidate for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design, and Elizabeth Renee Dunncandidate for a master’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree in construction management.

Bethany Johnson JavoisPresident and CEO of Deaconess Foundation, for the brown school ceremony, 7:30 p.m. at the Field House. The student lecturer is Brandon Noelcandidate for a master’s degree in social work.

Friday May 20

Meghan Winegradfounder and managing director of Generopolis, for the Olin Business School graduation, 11:30 a.m. to field house. The student lecturer is Charlie (Yitong) Xu.

Russell K. OsgoodDean and Howard and Caroline Cayne Professor of Law at the Law School, for the Law School ceremony, 1:30 p.m. to field house. The faculty speaker is Rachel Sachs, Treiman Professor of Law at the Law School. Student lecturers are Emilie Yonanjuris doctor candidate, and Shengnan Gaocandidate for a master’s degree in law.
