COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Cycling and Wattbike are thrilled to announce their new partnership as Wattbike becomes the Official Sponsor of the United States National Cycling Team and the Official Smart Bike of USA Cycling.
Wattbikes have been a proven training tool in the national team training program for years. The bikes have been located in the high altitude room of the Olympic Training Center for nearly 15 years, serving as the cornerstone of athlete training. Wattbikes improves rider performance in real time with precision data and analytics like no other smart bike. The bikes offer accurate data, a quiet drive, performance insights, instant shifts and a real ride feel.
The USA Cycling track program will be the main user of the Wattbikes stationed in Colorado Springs as well as the VELO Sports Center in Los Angeles.
USA Cycling Sprint Track Coach Erin Hartwell is thrilled to have an additional training tool for athletes. He said: “As an effective training tool, the Wattbike allows us to replicate specific training efforts that we would perform on the trail and still achieve the same desired physiological response from training. Additionally, the ergometer’s variable resistance options allow us to create a wide range of interval workouts targeting specific pedaling cadences to optimize the way we train our sprint athletes. It is incredibly effective for performance tracking and testing as data is readily available for immediate touchscreen feedback to coach and athlete and easy to download for later review.
Rich Baker, CEO of Wattbike, said: “Wattbike was born out of elite sport. Our indoor cycles are designed to improve the performance of everyone who uses one. It’s why we’ve worked with USA Cycling for several years to identify the next national and world champions and why so many riders love and trust our products. This partnership with USA Cycling marks our return to the US market with our smart bike, the Wattbike Atom. We are extremely excited to work even more closely with USA Cycling riders, coaches and members to drive their own performance improvements.
